My name is Wicket and I am a fluffy golden retriever. I was born September 28th, 2019 so I am still just a soft baby pup boy. I was one of ten puppies and I was actually kind of the runt but now I am bigger than all of my sisters! I am teething so I love to chew on shoes, but mostly I stick to my toys. I am awesome at digging holes! I have a few in the works and one to go under the house but my parents keep stopping me on that one. I love to sit on the chair in the backyard and look at the water as the warm sun pets my coat. Most of all, I love water! I love to take showers so much that my parents have to make sure to shut the bathroom door or I will join them. I also try to eat the raindrops… you should try it!
I am currently training at Canine Star Training Academy in Cocoa Commercial Center off US1. The first 7 classes will train me to be a good boy and then I can graduate and go off to the next class! My end goal is to train as much as I can and then start my specialty training to become a service dog. According to the Southwest ADA Center in an article on adata.org, “a service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.” Emotional support animals and therapy dogs are not the same as service animals. You can always check out more information to educate yourself at ADA.gov for more info.
My mom has a lot of heart issues and low blood pressure. She is going to have open heart surgery soon, her second. She already has a pacemaker. My goal is to be able to get help if she passes out. I love being a good boy and working for treats. I am such a fast learner and I am growing fast too! You can see me strolling Cocoa Village, having lunch at Ossorio Bakery and Cafe or Murdocks. I also visit Tails at the Barkey for my free treat and to get a new chew toy.
